Sir, - Elizabeth McCann wrote (May 19th): "Every time the abortion debate takes place these girls (who for whatever reason saw their only alternative was to have an abortion) are referred to as murderers". By whom I would ask? I don't hear this "every time" or indeed ever.
Ms McCann continues: "It is an awful pity the same energy [calling them `murderers'?] is not put into providing support and counselling for these girls and likewise for those who give birth to their babies". I believe that a great deal of energy is certainly being put into just that and in many humane quarters.
This kind of unfortunate fiction which passes as serious commentary is tiresome as well as being all too frequent. - Yours, etc.,
