Madam, - Frank Bouchier-Hayes has done well in rehabilitating the unjustly neglected memory of Cathal Brugha (An Irishman's Diary, August 18th). But he is not quite right when he says that Brugha died from bullets fired by Irishmen.
He had only a single bullet wound when he was brought to the Mater Hospital, where my recently qualified father was the intern on duty. It was his view that Brugha would not have died if he had received first aid earlier. - Yours, etc,
CHARLES LYSAGHT, Strand Road, Merrion, Dublin 4.
