Madam, - My elderly parents are no longer able to visit their son's grave. On Sundays we used to go to morning Mass and then to Deansgrange Cemetery. I am sure many people around the country follow a similar routine.
Now all this has changed. Bollards were erected (without notice) which prevent cars from fully navigating the graveyard. Both my parents suffer from arthritis and can walk only a short distance.
It is possible the bollards were erected to protect the graves getting damaged by careless drivers, but there is no point in protecting graves if they cannot be visited by their loved ones. It defeats the purpose of a graveyard. I believe a more compassionate solution could be found. - Yours, etc.,
