Sir, - I agree with Michael Jansen (The Irish Times, December 29th) that Jerusalem is a wonderful city. But where did she get the idea that the Israelis "carted" the Dead Sea Scrolls from the Rockefeller Museum to West Jerusalem?
In fact, the bulk of the scrolls - and many pieces from scrolls - that were in the Rockefeller Museum during the Jordanian occupation are still there, except for some items (including the so-called "Copper Scroll") that the Jordanians took to Amman. A small amount of Scroll material is on public display in the Israel Museum. - Yours, etc.,
