Sir, - On behalf of the 4th year students of Catholic University School, we wish to commend your article (May 2nd) illustrating the terrible destruction of 15 Ushers Island which as you said "was immortalised by James Joyce" in his short story The Dead. This is of particular interest to us as we are presently studying the works of Joyce.
It is imperative that these landmarks of Dublin's literary culture be preserved for future generations as an important part of Irish and European heritage. We hope that this article will encourage further awareness of the deterioration of such buildings. - Yours, etc.,
Catholic University School, Lower Leeson Street,
