Madam, - Richard D Barton (April 2nd), is missing my point in my letter about traffic islands (March 29th). I was merely trying to point out that a driver who strayed the slightest bit off line on the N6 (particularly at night) was in danger of hitting one of these traffic islands at the parking laybys, regardless of the speed of the vehicle. - Yours, etc,
DES CANNON, Stillorgan, Co Dublin.
Madam, - Adding to Des Cannon's point re traffic islands causing road accidents, should traffic islands not have sloped kerbs, rather then 90 degree vertical edges? If a cyclist or motorist inadvertently mounts a sloped (eg 50 degree) kerb, the jolt should immediately indicate their error, but with less chance of an accident. - Yours, etc,
JOHN MULLINS Wilton Court, Cork.
