Sir, - As both a motorist and a cyclist, I would like to comment on the debate sparked by Mary Holland recent column.
In short, cyclists do stupid and dangerous things and motorists do stupid and dangerous things. The difference is motorists put others at huge risk to gain an inch but cyclists mostly put themselves at risk. The consequence of collision with a car is considerably worse than with a bicycle. When it comes to my own safety, I would rather be in my car. - Yours, etc.,
Eoin O'Loughlin, Kilmainham, Dublin 8.
