Sir, - Eimear Coffey writes "without compunction" (November 15th), "having plied the canal-side route twice a day for quite some time", that there are more bad cyclists than bad motorists. Do our policy makers apply the same degree of rigour in research I wonder? Furthermore, that cyclists should "endear" themselves to motorists is surely a proposition ahead of its time. Once safety on the roads is restored then cyclists can fret for the "endearment" of our motoring friends. - Yours, etc.,
