Sir, - As a born-again cyclist, I was very pleased to see a report in The Irish
Times (July 9th) that the former Harcourt Street Line will be transformed in part into a cycleway. However, may I ask Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown council not to perpetuate an error committed by the Corporation? These paths should be marked by the universally recognised white cycle on blue background, meaning cycling permitted, and not, as at present, the black cycle on white background with red surround, which means cycling prohibited. I have met quite a few tourists,
Germans and Dutch in particular, who couldn't figure out this "Irish joke" at all! - Yours, etc.,D. K. HENDERSON,Castle Avenue,Dublin 3.
