Madam, – Having worked hard in a once-thriving dental practice for the past seven years, I am writing to express my extreme despair at the prospect of practices being forced to close pending the HSE’s latest budget cuts, instigated by Mr Patrick Burke of the HSE.

Why can’t our Government have the sense to preserve basic dental hygiene? I’m finding it increasingly difficult and upsetting trying to pacify distressed patients after delivering the bad news that they can no longer be treated. This is apart from the personal effect of stress and upset I myself and several other dental professionals are going through.

What was once a bright, busy and happy place to work has now darkened dramatically, and there is a heavy atmosphere of uncertainty clouding over us.

I’m now strongly considering re-directing the phones to Mr Burke, as I certainly can’t explain why he instigated these insane cuts. – Yours, etc,
