Cutbacks at Aer Lingus

Madam, – It is Aer Lingus’ intention to radically cut staff

Madam, – It is Aer Lingus’ intention to radically cut staff. Just now I have an e-mail offer from it to fly me here there and everywhere for “free”. What sort of insanity is this? If management of any company is giving away its product for nothing, it is not surprising if it has to let staff go. The patients are running the asylum; it must end in disaster.

I know other companies operate in this fashion, but I would prefer to pay a fair price for what I get, to be civilly dealt with in the process and know that staff and service suppliers are dealt with evenly by management. There is not room here for two Ryanairs. And all the while, the environment is paying a price for our cavalier go-as-you-please attitude to air transport. There is no such thing as a free flight. – Yours, etc,

JOHN O’RIORDAN,

Hillside,
