Madam, - As Breda O'Brien rightly points out (Opinion, May 14th), "the Crisis Pregnancy Agency (CPA) came into existence with the sole aim of reducing the numbers of women seeking abortion". In other words, its aim should be to promote all options other than abortion. However, it seems that the CPA has turned this on its head and is intent on ensuring that abortion is seen as a "positive option".

I find it most offensive that public money is used to fund agencies which promote abortion and which are making vast profits from the abortion industry. Ms Olive Braiden even confirms that the CPA service agreement "including referring clients to an agency that provided abortion details" (The Irish Times May 11th).

Rather than examining Cura's policies, in the public interest the policies of the CPA should be scrutinised and a report issued on why these policies are so obviously at variance with the agency's mandate when it was established. - Yours, etc,

Mrs MARY STEWART, Ardeskin, Donegal Town.
