Sir, - The photograph of Ms Shefkete Ukshini, aged 78, comforting her eight-year-old grandson, in a refugee camp in Brazda, Macedonia (April 13th), was one of the most poignant, disturbing and beautiful photographs I have seen.
To capture such a heartbreaking and tender moment on film, amidst the death, human violation, suffering and chaos, that is the Balkans 1999, must surely serve as a most sickening reminder to those world leaders who brandish dictatorship and wars at the drop of a hat, that there has to be a better way forward. - Yours, etc.,
