Sir, - In light of the tragic death of three people on the M50 a few weeks ago, I would like to point out yet again, as quite a few people have in your Letters page, the absurdity of not having crash barriers in the centre of a motorway or dualcarriageway.
I would love to know the reasoning behind this, having lived in both Britain and the US over the last six years. Both countries have vast networks of motorways, all having a central reservation barrier, but on the few miles of motorway that we have in this country, there are none. Why? Is it for cost reasons? If so, it is yet another disgraceful example of our government putting money before lives on Irish roads. - Yours, etc.,
N. Gilmartin, Kildare, Co Kildare.
