LAURA HOLDEN,
Madam, - Should Sean MacConnell's report of October 24th, "State cannot afford benchmarking - IFA", have actually been headlined, "State cannot afford farmers - says a public increasingly frustrated with the exorbitant costs of guaranteeing the maintenance of a declining, uncompetitive sector"?
I wonder if the Government would consider a referendum to ask voters whether or not they wish to continue to invest in farming - an industry in continuous and inevitable decline. - Yours, etc., LAURA HOLDEN, Grange, Co Kildare.
