Sir, - John Bruton, the leader of Fine Gael, is right when he says that recent allegations of corruption "call for a comprehensive renewal of Irish politics putting public service back where it belongs as the touchstone of political action." This cannot be achieved, however, as long as Fianna Fail (the party to which this culture of corruption is largely confined) remains in government. Will the Progressive Democrats, as they have hinted, do the decent thing? - Yours, etc.,
Richard Egan, Tullamore, Co Offaly.
