Sir, - the Most Rev Walton Empey "finds Vatican document confusing" (The Irish Times, (October 31st). Not too surprising, perhaps. Since, pace His Eminence, the Cardinal Archbishop of Dublin and Primate of Ireland, Dr Desmond Connell, Dr Empey "wouldn't have much theological competence" and - among the Church of Ireland - "would not be regarded as one of their high flyers".
Having spent many years of academic life in the study of angels, the Cardinal may presumably be considered something of an authority on "high flyers". - Yours, etc.,
