Sir, - So, a reasoned, factual reply to a sneering, inaccurate and generally denigratory piece of poor writing about the gardai in a Sunday newspaper is a "near hysterical" response (Drapier, The Irish Times, December 4th).
God help us, perhaps we should lie down and die altogether and leave the national comment journalists to proceed on their merry way with misrepresentations and inaccuracies piled on one another.
Incidentally, the Sunday newspaper in question has still not granted me a right of reply to a second attack by the columnist in question. Comment journalists are prepared to dish it out, but some are apparently too thin-skinned to take it. - Yours, etc.,
