Sir, - Your report (The Irish Times, August 2nd) of the extension of clamping is welcome news. However, the clampers could pay more attention to cars parked on cycle-lanes and footpaths. Portland Row allegedly has a cycle lane, yet at any time it is obstructed by a line of illegally parked cars. And never the sign of a clamper.
Cars parked on footpaths also seem to escape the attention of the clampers. In particular garages park cars for sale on the footpaths with impunity. - Yours, etc., Pat Corcoran,
Charles Street, Dublin 1.
