Madam, - In response to Irene Redmond's letter of April 9th, I wish to point out that the push for Christian churches to promulgate contraception is relatively recent. Few credit the fact that until 1930 all Protestant denominations agreed with the Catholic Church's position, regarding contraception as sinful. At its 1930 Lambeth Conference, the Anglican Church announced that contraception was permissible some circumstances.

In essence, for nearly the first 2,000 years of Christianity, all institutions teaching the Christian faith were singing from the same hymn sheet. The Catholic Church is the only church remaining faithful to traditional church teachings. - Is mise,
