Childcare not a 'women's issue'

Madam, - A. Leavy (August 18th) lists childcare as one of several "women's issues". Now, my school biology is a bit rusty, but as far as I recall it takes a woman and a man to make a child, and both young girls and boys are recipients of childcare.

Childcare and flexibility in working life are not marginalised because women vote for whatever politician they so wish; they are marginalised simply because they have been identified as "women's issues", not worthy of consideration by the whole of society. - Yours, etc.,
