Madam, – While I understand Dr Maeve White’s frustration with health services in this country (November 5th), I find her use of a family tragedy to take a swipe at a politician to be beyond insensitive. I find your decision to publish the letter even more reprehensible. – Yours, etc,

Madam, – So Dr Maeve White finds the reporting on the death of Léana Martin to be offensive (Letters, November 5th)? I imagine a great many people find her letter far more so.

For any parents to bury a seven-year old daughter is indeed as she says “a personal tragedy”. That it should be used as a platform from which to lambaste a grieving father’s political track record is grotesque. – Yours, etc,
