Madam, - AIM Family Services welcome the change in the "in camera rule" announced by Minister Michael McDowell and reported in The Irish Times (July 12th). We find the incidence of marriage breakdown is rising so this is an important move for those with this difficulty. From anecdotal evidence, there seemed to be a lack of consistency in judgments being handed down.
We are glad it is not going to be "open house" because of the trauma already involved for those coming before the family courts.
We look forward to seeing the result of research on court decisions in due course. - Yours, etc,
DEIRDRE McDEVITT, AIM Family Services, D'Olier Street, Dublin 2.
