Madam, - On February 21st you published a chilling photograph of IRA men marching through Strabane en route to listen to the rhetoric of non-member Adams. What a splendid array of flags they carried!

My question is: why was the Ulster (Red Hand) flag upside-down? Did this conventional sign of distress mean that the province is in crisis, or is it just that the IRA never puts its hand up for anything? - Yours, etc.,
