Sir, - Fr Tom Stack's letter (July 28th), in which he says we were not taught that "outside the Church there was no redemption", reminds me of a joke that did the rounds 35 to 40 years ago.
A group of people had died, and St Peter was showing them around heaven. He opened the first door, and said, "These are all the Jews who have gone to heaven." They looked in and saw a crowd of people all looking very happy. At the second door he said, "These are all the Protestants who have gone to heaven." They looked in, and there was another crowd of people, all looking very happy. At the third door he whispered, "We have to tiptoe past this room.
