Sir, - Like the writer Susan Hill referred to in that interesting column In Times Eye (October 26th), I always wanted to see a kingfisher, but never had the experience. Recently, however, I was afforded the pleasure.
I happened to be crossing the bridge over the river Dargle in Bray, and glancing down over the parapet I saw a blue-green streak of colour just above the water, moving rapidly upstream for about 100 yards, and then disappearing into a clump of bushes. I do hope this beautiful bird remains in the locality and survives the many hazards to its existence. - Yours, etc.,
E. Morris, Ballynoe Court, Bray, Co Wicklow.
