Madam, - I am no great admirer of the National Roads Authority, and have previously voiced my opinion of that body through these pages. But I cannot fail to be amused at the notion of car-hire operators being concerned at the impact of barrier-free M50 tolling on tourism ( The Irish Times, August 28th), given the historic lack of concern the same companies have shown for the impact on tourism of their long-standing extortionate pricing and hidden costs.
