Sir, – Aside from being outraged that our Government parties have yet again concluded their substantial summer recess by splurging taxpayers’ money on their annual “think-ins” as they prepare to hit the Irish people with yet another stinging budget, inflicting yet further cuts, taxes and hardship; I am also curious to some degree.

Is there something that we, the citizens of Ireland, are unaware of which makes the elegant opulence of Government Buildings an unfitting and unsuitable venue for constructive thinking? I do feel this question is worthy of at least some consideration given the sheer lack of constructive, progressive and productive thinking which has come from the confines of these magnificent buildings in recent times.  Also, why is it not possible for both Coalition partners to do their thinking at the same venue, together, at the same time? I do not think this is an unreasonable proposition as they are allegedly partners in Government.

Perhaps a little thinking en masse might be more constructive?  – Yours, etc,
