Sir - On reading the report by Luke Clancy on the Bram Stoker Summer School, my first reaction was one of relief that I had been quoted accurately and that bat facts rather than fantasy were presented to the reader. However, his use of the word "fanatic" to describe the assembled audience did not convey the impression that the participants were there for a scholarly appreciation of Bram Stoker, though the remainder of the article, in which he described the contents of some of the other papers, did illustrate that the school was a serious literary event.
Unfortunately, the early image he created of blood-crazed fanatics may have left a more lasting impression than his subsequent reporting of the other papers delivered - Yours, etc.,
