Sir, - Easons regret that Ciaran Vines (November 28th) was not given a clear explanation for the perceived price difference in our O'Connell Street shop. While he does not indicate which particular title he is referring to, and we do have tens of thousands in stock, it would seem that the £24.99 he mentions is the sterling price of the book and when converted to Irish pounds this is IR£31.75 (€40.31).
We appreciate that with so many books in our shops now carrying a sterling price, a punt price and a euro price, it can be confusing.
I would like to assure your readers that Easons are committed to a transparent euro changeover process to ensure our customers are not overcharged. - Yours, etc.,
John Cudlipp, Retail Director, Eason and Son Ltd, O'Connell Street, Dublin 1.
