Madam, – On May 7th, 2008 I drew attention to the “Insurance bias in favour of ‘lady’ drivers” through a letter published in your Letters page. I stated then that just because something was statistically proven does not mean it is not sexist.
Now that the European Court of Justice has ruled correctly against this disgraceful practice, would insurance companies please refund the male drivers that they have loaded due to their sex; and not try to wriggle out of their responsibilities by saying it is unfair as they are backed up by statistics.
I await a flurry of refund cheques in the post. – Yours, etc,
