Madam, - In light of the national airline's recent troubles, it is heartening to see that Aer Lingus has been voted "the best overall value for money airline" in 2003 (The Irish Times, May 27th). I believe that Aer Lingus is right to advertise this achievement. Regrettably, however, it has let the national side down by taking a cheap shot at Michael O'Leary of Ryanair in so doing.
Well done, Aer Lingus; but I still believe you are both bigger and better than you have portrayed yourself. Less of the snide commentary please and more endeavour to maintain our national dignity! - Yours, etc.,
ROBERT CORRIGAN, Baltinglass, Co Wicklow.
