Madam, – Now that the face-veil is banned in France (World News, April 11th), it is interesting to realise that both the women who wear the veil and those who appear half naked in six-inch stiletto heels are two sides of the same coin – incongruous as that might first appear.
Both are trying to fit themselves into male fantasies or at least some male fantasies. The one is appeasing the male fantasy of having a woman all to himself that no other man can even look at and the other fondly imagines that nakedness is all any man needs in a woman. No one can honestly say that either set of garments are actually comfortable to wear. Vive la France! – Yours, etc,
