Sir, - The new Aviation Bill being brought by Government to the Dail this October will allow civil air traffic in and out of Baldonnel. If passed, it means planes will approach Baldonnel at 500 feet over Tallaght Hospital, 1,200 feet over Ballyboden/Templeogue and 1,800 ft over Ballinteer and Sandyford.
Let the Concorde tragedy in Paris last week be a timely reminder to those in authority that such events do happen and that it is totally inappropriate that Baldonnel should be developed with planes being needlessly flown across built-up south Dublin. Our existing Dublin Airport, with landings coming in over the sea, is capable of handling up to three times its existing traffic with a second runway and additional terminals. - Yours, etc.,
Peter Kelly, Ardclough, Co Kildare.
