Kevin Myers (An Irishman's Diary, February 14th) is, unfortunately, right about the high number of Jolenes answering company telephones who give callers endless doses of Greensleeves and Home on the Range. However, they don't bother me half as much as the millions of people who ask me if I'm OK, when it is none of their business. Almost every receptionist, shop assistant, doorman, concierge, porter, saleswoman, etc. that I encounter asks if I am OK in cases where the real need is for an exchange of information on topics completely unrelated to my state of health. Who trains these people? Whatever happened to "Can I help you"? - Yours, etc.,Seamus Gallen,Hazel Lawn,Dublin 15.
