Madam, - As a regular airport passenger I agree wholeheartedly with John Finn (September 24th) that a quiet airport policy would be very welcome.
Along similar lines, could our two national airlines agree to eliminate in-flight announcements about alcohol, lottery tickets, train tickets, perfumes, bus tickets, etc - at least during the hours of darkness? I'd be willing to pay a few extra euro not to be tormented continually, especially when I'm trying to sleep. - Yours, etc,
RICHARD BANNISTER, Pembroke Square, Dublin 4.
Madam, - While I agree with the main thrust of his letter, does John Finn really believe that the visually impaired should not be travelling by air? That is the only interpretation I can place on his comment that: "You check the screen. . .If you can't manage that, you shouldn't really be left out of the house".
As someone who appears to be concerned about correct use of the English language he must surely have chosen his words carefully. - Yours, etc,
TONY McCOY O'GRADY, Grangebrook Close, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
