Sir - I feel compelled to write to you about this year's All Ireland replay between Meath and Mayo. It seems to me that the GAA is intent on inactivity regarding the brawl between the two teams. When will they learn that it is the good name of their association they are damaging?
As a sports fan, I love to see Gaelic football at its best. It should be pointed out to the elders of the GAA that this is not sport. It is more a case of uncontrolled aggression, without any codes or ethics. The fault lies in the hands of the referee and his officials for not taking control of the match.
Unless the GAA acts in a swift, decisive manner, this year's AllIreland will be remembered as nothing more than a brawl and a piece of bad PR for our native sport. - Yours, etc.,
