Sir, - How gloriously ironic it is that the open-top tour buses which bring tourists past Dublin's main attractions, on an endless loop, should themselves, with their ancient diesel engines, be emitting a relentless attack on the lungs of Dublin's citizens and the very buildings they purport to celebrate.
And yet, how marvellously cunning that the companies which operate these mobile pollutants, foreseeing the above observation, should include a few low-emission gas-burning models within their fleets, to answer it.
The letter-writing crank finds himself thwarted at every pass. - Yours, etc., Colin Rothery,
Ashfield Road, Dublin 6.
