Sir, - I note that John Waters (Opinion, May 8th) believes that the policy of denying outsiders planning permission to build homes, as endorsed by Clare, Kerry Wicklow county councils, makes sense. He further states that there is an obvious injustice in people not being able to afford housing in the area where they grew up.
If he agrees that one of the primary factors inflating house prices in the greater Dublin area is the huge demand, will he be packing his bags and heading west, thus relieving a little of the pressure in the market? This small gesture will help me buy a house in my native area. - Yours, etc.,
Barry Schweppe, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7.
