Madam, – I have just completed a tour of the impressive hi-tech Irish Times printing facility at Citywest as part of the Innovation Dublin week. This followed an equally enjoyable visit to the paper’s Tara Street offices last Saturday during the Open House weekend, including the inner sanctum of your own Editorial Office.
I wish to compliment The Irish Times and the many government and other institutions, companies, private owners and volunteers who co-operated to provide access for ordinary citizens to see so many venues, not normally open to the public, without charge, as part of Heritage Week, or Open House or Innovation Dublin.
Over the past two months we have been spoiled for choice from an amazing array of free visits to so many and varied cultural and architectural locations. It was a tonic in these straitened times to be able to freely enjoy the rich heritage which is the real backbone of this troubled country. I participated fully in all three events and found real value for no money at all! – Yours, etc,
