Sir, - In response to Vincent Browne's column on his change of mind on the abortion issue (Opinion, May 10th), I would like to say fair play to him for being big enough to admit to changing his mind. I too have changed my mind. In the 1980s I was very pro-life but since then I have worked with the pain of girls who for whatever reason saw their only alternative was to have an abortion.
Every time the abortion debate takes place these girls are referred to as murderers. It is an awful pity the same energy is not put into providing support and counselling for these girls and likewise for those who give birth to their babies.
Well done, Mr Browne, and long may you continue to highlight the inequalities in our society. - Yours, etc.
