Sir, - You tell us that we have learned nothing from the X case (Editorial, November 29th). Wrong. Many of us have begun to question the competence of the courts as at present structured to adjudicate on cases of major constitutional importance. Some strange interpretations emerging from the Four Courts during the past few years do not inspire confidence.
Perhaps the time has come to establish a specialised court to decide constitutional cases, taking as an example the Federal Constitutional Court in Germany or the Constitutional Council in France. Another thought for the Constitution Review Committee. - Yours, etc.,
Churchtown, Dublin 14.
