Madam, – I note the Taoiseach intends to hold a referendum next year on the abolition of Seanad Éireann.
Six of the seats in that august House of the Oireachtas are reserved for members elected by graduates of Ireland’s universities, many of whom (like myself) are part of the Irish Diaspora earning our crusts abroad and who greatly value this connection with our National Parliament as established in law under Bunreacht na Éireann.
Is it intended that we too shall have a vote in this referendum to extinguish our constitutional right to representation? – Yours, etc,
