A chara, – I welcome the call from Fr Des Wilson, Jude Collins, Pat Fahy, Jarlath Burns et al (November 30th) that the Dublin Government introduce legislation to extend voting rights to the Six Counties before our next presidential election. I am glad to see that their call is not an humble request but a demand. I only ask, why stop there?
Now is the time to legislate for the extension of voting rights for the presidency to the whole of Ireland and the Irish Diaspora. As someone born and bred in South Armagh, educated in both the Six and 26 Counties, and a proud member of the Diaspora, I believe I have a foot firmly in all three camps.
