A chara, – Peter Pallas (April 29th) noted that he put a total news blackout in place to avoid any coverage of the royal wedding.
I have in fact temporarily lifted my news blackout that has been in place since September 2008. It is so refreshing to be able to look at headlines and news reports that aren’t 100 per cent filled with doom, gloom and our impending annihilation.
I care not a jot that it is the royal family and I’m Irish and therefore I’m supposed to hate them and everything they represent.
I like the British, I like visiting their country, I like the majority of British people that I have met, that I’m related to and that I call friends. I wish them well on this day, and I hope that this occasion lifts the national mood.
