Sir, – I share Brian Ross’s dismay at the wastage involved in our postering tradition (November 2nd). On holidays in Amsterdam last August during a general election I was struck by the Dutch commonsense approach. Their local authorities place mobile public hoardings at strategic points and each party is allowed equal space for one poster on each hoarding. At the end of the election the portable hoardings are driven away immediately. Could the Irish political establishment not adopt a similar approach? – Yours, etc,
