Madam, – Innocent protesters are being shot in the street with live ammunition in Libya. Mercenaries are being brought in from other African countries and are being paid tens of thousands to kill innocent civilians. The current death toll is reported to be more than 300 (and believed to be well over 1,000) while there are more than 1,000 injured! Most of the dead are youth/teenagers and among them are children and babies.
There are confirmed reports that snipers, tanks, anti-air artillery, and even fighter jets and bombers have been used against the people. News channels have even been blocked from view within the country and state television is being used to tell people that there is no massacre going on. I would appeal to your readers to do anything they can to raise awareness about the events in Libya and the brutality of the Gadafy regime and encourage your leaders, government, representatives, and rights organisations to condemn it without hesitation and support the Libyan people, however possible.
We need the international community to declare and enforce a no-fly zone over Libya so Gadafy cannot use jets to bomb the protesters and bring in more mercenaries by air. We also need them to freeze his assets worldwide (estimated to be almost one trillion US dollars). Also, anything that can be done to stop him bringing in mercenaries is needed: such as closing borders. More importantly, the Libyan people need food and medical aid to be sent and also military aid if possible as they are fighting for their freedom, unarmed against huge odds and military force. Please do what you can as the Libyan people need help.
