Madam, - I was pleased to learn that the film Mary, Queen of Scots will be shot this year mostly in Ireland.
May I recommend that the role of John Knox be offered to the Rev Dr Ian Paisley, who will be at something of a loose end this summer? He has the physical stature and the histrionic talent to portray his doctrinal ancestor convincingly. Just imagine with what zest, when freed from political correctness, Big Ian will be able to denounce the monstrous regiment of women, as well as the Whore of Babylon and the Scarlet Woman (not Ms Johansson, of course).
There may even be a part for another politician whose current employment is about to end - perhaps as Rizzio: charming, inarticulate in English, and finally victim of a multiple stabbing. - Yours, etc,
MICHAEL DRURY, Avenue Louise, Brussels, Belgium.
