Madam, – Although far from an expert on African anthropology, I note that one of the few remaining indigenous peoples of south western Africa are the Nama, a people struggling to survive in a particularly harsh environment, whose culture is traditionally rooted deep in music and literature and who practise a policy of communal land ownership.
To the delight of all, Dublin Zoo now has in its care a new baby gorilla, which may yet grow to massive proportions and rule his particular roost for generations to come. If he’s looking for a name I can think of none better. Long may he thrive. – Yours, etc,
