Sir, – Nice double-header for Fine Gael this week, with the Roscommon Hospital débacle and Hildegarde Naughton, who “battled” so hard to become Mayor, voting not to permit David Norris to address Galway City Council, then realising her “mistake” and promising to try to have it rectified. No doubt realising mistakes is now part of Fine Gael policy. But the damage, in my view, is done. Galway, in Arts Festival week, is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Now let’s hear from those councillors who voted against Mr Norris’s visit as to why they decided as they did. – Yours, etc,
